OUR PEOPLE

People are at the core of any organisation and that is especially true at ExcluServ. Over the last 20 years we have built a great accounts team in the UK and in South Africa.  

We continue to build on that team as we grow. New staff joining must first and foremost be a good fit for our type of work, to our clients and to the values of ExcluServ. We look for staff who are diligent, honest, thoughtful and passionate about their accounting, at whatever level they might be working.  

As a result, this creates a team that you will find it great to work with, and with whom you develop proper relationships.

MEET THE TEAM

To provide a great service ExcluServ have built a team of people with expertise ranging through all levels of accounting. This team are supported by, systems specialists, and software developers, and an operations team that make sure it all runs smoothly for them and for you.

Directors 

ExcluServ is led by the three founding directors, who are all CIMA qualified accountants and registered as Members in Practice (MiP) 

As directors, they are directly involved both in maintaining the values of the organisation and in enabling the outsourcing services to be provided at the highest level. This includes support directly to our clients and but also indirectly as a sounding board, and mentors to our team below. 

Richard Britten-Kelly

Technical Director

An experienced accountant, Richard has been, and continues to be the main resource to develop and manage our outsourcing team.  

He is the team lead on all year end work, and statutory submissions, and is unflappable even under the pressure of looming HMRC deadlines. 

Most of all Richard is excited by Technology and this goes way beyond the normal accountants obsession with Excel, as he finds ways to unify systems and provide reporting dashboards to make sense of the information available. 

Heinrich Groenewald

Commercial Director

With his focus on the capacity of the business to deliver, Heinrich has overseen the growth of ExcluServ since it was formed. His strong business acumen ensures the team remain focused and our operations remain sustainable, well resourced and profitable. 

Where others in the team, will come up with ideas and plans, it is Heinrich who will manage those plans and ensure that they are delivered, and add value. 

Paul Winnan

Non Executive Director

Since August 2025 Paul has moved to a Non-Executive Director role at ExcluServ.

Paul has a background as a systems accountant with 30 plus years of working with Mid-Tier accounting solutions, primarily with larger charities.

Paul has a passion for the UK charity sector and will continue to work outside of ExcluServ on specific projects that inspire him.

Paul will continue to be part of the ExcluServ family, through regular all-company meetings. He will provide support to leadership and staff on issues where he has  specialist knowledge, and contribute to the overall direction and values of the organisation. 

Outsourcing Team 

By far the largest and most varied team within ExcluServ. The Outsourcing team are made up of a range of roles and skill levels 

At the more junior level, some of our team will work as data entry clerks entering and providing first line validation of what has been entered, some will manipulate data from other source systems to upload into the accounting system, and some will work with databases such as salesforce to generate transactions for the finance system. 

As our team get more senior (Junior Accountants) they will be working to resolve accounting errors, reconcile and match data across systems, make decisions around VAT and other factors, and perform data analysis for things like Gift Aid returns 

Our Accountants and Senior Accountants with ensure that all of the control accounts, bank accounts and the balance sheet as a whole are fully reconciled, and reflect the true position for the organisation. They will be able to close the month and will review to identify likely entry errors, omissions or duplications of data. 

Our Senior Accountants will work with budget holders where needed to help them prepare and think through their budgets and reports to funders, and understand variances and forecasts, and in many cases will also support the Senior Leadership team. For a small number of our clients this is extended to providing quarterly board reporting, with the ExcluServ staff member attending board meetings in person.    

Payroll Specialists – we have both an internal Head of Payroll services, and a partner organisation that process payrolls under our supervision. 

Technical and reporting services 

We have a team of 4 technical staff who help make the magic happen and keep the wheels turning in the background for the technical solutions that we have in place.  

Most of this team also work as client managers, to ensure that they remain close to the accounting requirements. This ensures that they properly understand what the tools they are working with need to do, for the client and the operational accountants, and can anticipate changes that will be needed. 

Operations 

We have put in place an operations team that manage the business and allow the directors and the outsourcing service team to focus on our clients. They are the unsung heroes of the company that quietly keep everything running, resolve all the operational challenges, and keep the lights on so we can all work without such distractions.
